The Oppertunity
Madgio started streaming on Twitch in 2018 with ambitions to create his own tight-knit community. As he evolved as a content creator, his branding started to drift into misalignment and a redesign was long overdue to help his brand grow authentically with him.

The pandemic posed many challenges to the research phase but with the help of collaborative tools like Figma, we could explore ideas quite effectively in real-time. What we discovered was that his current brand was very generic in the Twitch space and whilst some elements of the identity were successful, major parts such as the colour palette fell flat when it came to representing his personality. We carefully deconstructed the mark, preserving the owl mascot but redesigning it into a more simplified and scalable form.

"Ahmed, from Studio Welkin, has provided the utmost care and attention to every project I've asked him to complete. He is very easy to work with and is wonderfully receptive to any needs or specificities. I would not go anywhere else for this great quality and professionalism."

The solution
Working closely with Madgio we achieved a relaxed, characterful style that better represents his personality, not overpowering in any of its elements to give him the space to grow. The new identity hit all the right marks and will give the stream all that it needs for its relaunch in 2022.
Projects like this can only flourish with collaboration across disciplines.

Madgio’s content is laidback, fun and personal. When it came to the palette we wanted to achieve a balance between a light calmness and warmth that would contrast well against the dark Twitch interface.

The typography was completely reconstructed with the wordmark, in particular, getting a stylised treatment that gives it real character. For the wider type applications, we utilised a variable font that echoes the visual interest of the wordmark.

Overlays are the most integral application when it comes to stream branding. The approach we took was to build a set of flexible and interesting layouts to complement Madgio's content.

Subtle animations and patterns were used to build brand continuity across the stream. We built two sets of these overlays in two colourways, light & dark, giving options for Madgio based on the time of day or just to keep things fresh.
